| A frame for mounting a compressible gasket to be used in a plastic casting apparatus is shown. A stiff frame having an inner perimeter upon which a gasket strip is mounted seals a casting zone between two, flat, closely adjacent glass surfaces. A gap between ends of the gasket strip provides a feed zone through which a conduit carrying plastic casting fluid is inserted. A lever mounted on the frame is rotated to cause ends of the gasket strip to abut one another when sealing of the casting zone is desired.

| A tapered plate is provided for use in conjunction with the tapered axially movable spacer shaft and the fixedly positioned spacer head of a Linotype machine. The spacer head is protected and prevented from contacting the matrices when the shaft and the plate are assembled on opposite sides thereof. Axial movement of the assembly assures proper word-to-word spacing. The oppositely facing tapered surfaces of the assembled shaft and plate are always parallel regardless of their axial position relative to the spacer head. Means are provided for loosely coupling the plate and the spacer shaft with a permissable range of relative angular movement thereof.

A hook 78 is provided to suspend the holder from a cathode bar so that the articles are immersed in the electrolyte. Contact is made from the bar to the articles through the hook, the plate 43, and a contact plate 73 pressed against the bottom of the articles by wing screws. In another form, Fig. 16, the base-plate 84 and housing are made of plastics material, and the contact plate 96 is embedded in the plate 84 and extends above it at one end 97 to contact the articles. | ||||||
