PURPOSE: To enable printed products to be stapled at an appropriately arranged position even in the rapid operating mode by pushing back stapling heads by a support when the stapling heads encounter their corresponding supports in a stapling zone. CONSTITUTION: Stapling heads 5 are guided in such a way that they hold their perpendicular position during their orbiting motion. Therefore each stapling head 5 is approximately aligned with its corresponding support in a stapling zone C and assumes a position to drive staples into a printed product. When the stapling heads 5 come across the supports 2, the stapling heads 5 are pushed back against the resistance of compression springs 10. Thus the orbit of the stapling heads 5 is slightly flattened in the stapling zone C and the time available for the stapling heads 5 to collaborate with the supports 2 in the stapling process can be slightly prolonged. Consequently this operating time flexibility is instrumental for the setting of the staplers at a correct position in order to drive the staples into the printed product and properly close them. |

The present invention is directed to a novel intaglio printing press and a method for intaglio print making using the intaglio printing press described herein. The present invention is comprised generally of two assemblies: a press bed assembly and a print head assembly. The print head assembly serves as a first class lever within a pair of surfaces of a press bed assembly that define runway. The runway structure of the press bed assembly confines the force applied to the print head assembly and translates that force into a pressure directed to the print paper covered and inked artwork. The print paper and inked artwork are positioned proximate to the lower surface and the print head portion of the print head assembly is situated between the artwork and the upper surface. The print head assembly comprises one or more lever handles, a compression roller and one or more track roller. The lever handle(s) provide a torque lever for receiving a manually exerted downward force and to provide a handle for moving the print head assembly along the runway, thereby making compression passes across the artwork. The track roller and compression roller are secured a predetermined distance from each other and within a housing that forces the compression roller against the print paper and inked artwork at the lower surface of the runway and simultaneously forces the track roller (or bearings) against the upper surface of the runway. Printmaking proceeds one pass at a time across the lateral extent of the print paper covered artwork. |

A machine particularly adapted for printing card stock. A head or carriage is mounted to reciprocate over a type bed. The carriage mounts the impression roller, inking rollers, doctor roller and an oscillating roller. The impression roller is mounted on an adjustable eccentric shaft adjustable to compensate for different thicknesses of card stock to thereby control the printing pressure. The impression roller is driven through roller members that move on rails which are coupled by way of a positive clutch to the ends of the impression roller which is positively driven in any adjusted position. The inking rollers, oscillating and doctor roller are mounted between side plates of the carriage, improved means being provided for lifting the inking rollers and for lifting the oscillating roller and doctor roller.
