In the beginning of an electric dialysis as in cases where batchwise desalination, for example, is conducted, the application of current between the auxiliary electrodes is stopped during a period when the liquid resistance ratio of diluted liquid to concentrated liquid is small, whereas current is applied during a period when the liquid resistance ratio is greater.
