PREPARATION: The dehydrative condensation reaction of staurosporin of formula II and a reactive derivative of a compound of formula III (BOC is t- butoxycarbonyl), preferably succinimide ester, is carried out in an inert solvent such as chloroform at 35W40°C to give a 1 of formula IV. Then, hydrogen chloride or the like is allowed to act on the product in an inert solvent to effect deprotection whereby the compound of formula I is obtained.
