Air advances between fins, and makes contact gradually with the surface of fins of a high thermal conductivity, that is, with the low-temperature heat transfer surface the temperature of which draws gradually near to the heat transfer tube surface temperature. For this reason, the difference in absolute humidity between ambient air related to the quantity of frosting and saturated humid air of a temperature corresponding to the temperature of the heat transfer surface is unified toward the air flowing direction, and hence frost adheres uniformly onto the surface of the fins.
