CONSTITUTION: Generally 0.1W80pts.wt. hydroxyl group-contg. vinyl monomer derived from an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid (e.g. pentaerythritol triacrylate) is reacted with 100pts.wt. reaction product of 98W35wt% cyclopentadiene resin (i) with 2W65wt% conjugated diene-contg. higher fatty acid ester (ii) (e.g. natural drying oil such as tung oil or dehydrated castor oil) and 0W30wt% α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride (iii) (e.g. maleic anhydride) in the presence of a free- radical generating polymn. initiator at 80W280°C for 10minW5hr to obtain the desired modified resin by which inks having excellent setting properties and film strength can be prepd.
