CONSTITUTION: A quantifying apparatus 1 is equipped with a quantifying element 10 and a voltage applying device 20 for applying predetermined voltage to said element 10. The element 10 is constituted so that a water absorbable member 12 is interposed between an anode 1 covered with a semipermeable membrane 14 and a cathode 13 and preliminarily impregnated with predetermined enzyme. The impregnation of enzyme is achieved by immersing the member 12 in a solution of enzyme prepared by dissolving enzyme in a buffer solution and drying the impregnated one. The enzyme to be infiltrated is the one capable of inducing hydrogen peroxide from a living body component to be quantified by enzymatic reaction. Voltage is applied to the member 12 impregnated with a specimen solution through the potentiostat of the apparatus 20 and the current value generated by the electrode reaction of hydrogen peroxide is detected by an ammeter 28 to be recorded on a recorder 29. The living body component in the specimen solution is quantified on the basis of the current value after a predetermined time is elapsed from the point of time when voltage was applied.1.
