CONSTITUTION: A conductor (acting electrode) 3 covered with a polydivinyl ferrocene membrane, a reference electrode 4 and an opposed electrode 5 are inserted in an aqueous electrolyte solution 2. Next, a potentiostat 6 and a function generator 7 are combined to perform potential scanning at a predetermined scanning speed. The obtained current-potential curve is recorded on an X-Y recording needle, and anode peak potential and cathode peak potential are read. Since said potentials show different values by the anion contained in the aqueous solution, the kind of the anion contained in an unknown specimen can be discriminated from said anode and cathode peak potentials.
