If the extra-short pulse voltage outputted like this is applied to a driving part 3, the extra-short pulse voltage is applied to a light source 4 from the driving part 3 to generate an extra-short light pulse and the extra-short pulse voltage is delayed by a delaying means 12 and applied to the light source 4 after its polarity is reversed to avoid the relaxation oscillation of the extra-short light pulse. With this constitution, the extra-short light pulse having a frequency corresponding to the frequency of the input voltage can be steadily generated without deforming the waveform.
