The attenuation time constant Tf of the current of a field circuit is represented as Tf=Lf/(Rf+rf) where Lf denotes the inductance of the field winding 5, Rf denotes its resistance and rf denotes the resistance of the resistor 9. The attenuation time constant Tf can be reduced by increasing the resistance rf to prevent an overvoltage from occurring when a load is opened.
