CONSTITUTION: A resistor R1 and a capacitor C1 are connected across the collector and base of the chopper transistor Tr1. A switching transistor Tr2 is connected to the node of the resistor R1 with the capacitor C1. A turn-on/off voltage is supplied from a chopper control circuit to the base of the transistor Tr2. When the transistor Tr2 is off, the base current of the transistor Tr1 is supplied through the resistor R1 and the capacitor C1. When the transistor Tr2 is on, the charge of the capacitor C1 is discharged through a diode D1. Thus, the rising time and falling time of the transistor Tr1 are shortened and the loss is reduced. When the control circuit gets defective, the transistor Tr1 is turned off to prevent the occurrence of overvoltage.
