The process computer 7 adjusts the variable speed driving apparatus 2 to decrease coal supply to the burner 9 when a surface temperature at this time is too high. On the other hand, when the furnace temperature lowers, fuel such as fuel oil or fuel gas is fed to the burner 9 via a flowmeter 5 from a storage tank 8.
