CONSTITUTION: The knowledge base analysis device 13 respectively reads a rule from a knowledge base 16, and a conclusion event from a memory 12 storing an initial event and the conclusion event, and it resolves a conclusion part in the knowledge base 16 so that it comes into one rule. The knowledge base analysis device 13 gives sequence in accordance with the number of the step of the rules from the conclusion part. An inference engine 15 selects the rules to be applied in accordance with order allocated to respective rules. The application of the rules is controlled in accordance with the numbers added to respective rules which is stored in the knowledge base 16 by the inference engine 15. Thus, the trouble concerning the calculation of the conviction degree can be excluded and the inference of the high speed is attained.
