CONSTITUTION: As a means which presses paper against the pressure roller 2, the fixing device is provided with the pressure belt device 10 and the pressure plate 13 which presses the pressure belt device 10 from the rear surface. Moreover, the fixing device is provided with a belt edge detecting sensor 12 which detects the snaking of the pressure belt device 10 and a snaking correcting means 20 which corrects the snaking of the belt. The paper that passes between the pressure roller 2 and the pressure belt device 10 is heated and pressed. Therefore, the velocity distribution of large-sized paper in its width direction can be uniformly maintained without changing the nip shape in the width direction.
