CONSTITUTION: In a height arithmetic mechanism 9, a computing element 14 equipped in a prescribed position of a bulldozer is provided. The computing element 14 is constituted functionally of a running distance arithmetic part 14A for calculating a running distance of the bulldozer at every prescribed timing, and a height arithmetic part 14B for calculating the height of an excavated surface by the bulldozer. In an input side of the arithmetic part 14B, an inclination angle detector 20, an arm angle detector 22 and an initial value setting device 8 are equipped, and an arithmetic data is inputted from each of them. Prior to the start of a run, the car body height is outputted as an initial value to the arithmetic mechanism 9 through the setting device 8. The arithmetic mechanism 9 calculates the work-plane height extending from the reference plane to the work plane, based on a variation of the car body height in the running state, and displays 10 it. In such a way, it will suffice that a vehicle is operated, while observing visually an indicator 10.
