CONSTITUTION: Two-dimensional input information 1 is projected to an appropriate hyper plane 3 in a three-dimensional extended space 2. Following that, spatial partial differentiation is carried out for an amount of projected information in the hyper plane 3, and the absolute value of the information or points exceeding an appropriate threshold value is extracted as a set 4 of sampling points. Further, the extracted set 4 is input as intermediate output information 5 in a neural output network. Furthermore, by appropriately selecting a dimension of the extended space 2, hyper plane 3, and threshold value, intermediate output information 5 compresses input information 1 and effectively extracts only a part useful for pattern recognition. Thus, even a small scale processor can deal with pattern recognition at sufficient speed.
