The system utilizes a WINDOWS3 graphical user interface to define panels within a script and the interrelationship of the panels. The system allows the user to create dialogs that include information obtained from a database. Thus, each script is customized in substantially real time to include information pertaining to the individual customer and the agent conversing with the customer. Additional action objects, such as customer responses, cause the script to branch in various directions that are easily defined by the user. The script can proceed from one panel to another, from one panel to another branch in the script, or to another independent script. The system can be implemented with a host computer and a plurality of agent workstation computers. Alternatively, the system may be implemented on a network in which the scripts are contained in a network server, and the plurality of agent workstations are also coupled to the network. The agent utilizes the created scripts in presenting information to the customer and gathering information from the customer.
