A step tablet SW produced by developing the material 14 is set to an input drum 1 and undergoes a photoelectric scan through an input optical head 3 to obtain concentration signals of the SW. These concentration signals are fed successively to a table generating circuit 22 to be set opposite to the light volume control signals KL supplied from the memory 20.
