CONSTITUTION: The sentences supplied in the Roman characters, HIRAGANA (cursive form of Japanese syllabary) and KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary) are held by an input sentence holding means 11. While a holding means 12 holds a higher-lower rank relation expressing character string which shows the higher-lower rank relation of languages. A deciding means 13 decides whether the sentence held by the means 11 contains the higher-lower rank relation expressing character string or not by reference to the means 12. Based on the result of this decision, an extracting means 14 extracts the words set before and after said relation expressing character string. Then a substitute means 15 refers to a dictionary 16 where the language meanings are systemized and stored and substitutes the plural extracted words for the KANJI of the higher and lower concept words corresponding to said words respectively. As a result, the processing speed is improved for the correct description of KANJI.
