The means 110 receives a cursor shift instruction and the character size information and sends the size/position information on a character cursor back to the means 10 based on the received instruction and information. Then the means 10 sends the received information to the means 40 and displays the character cursor at the relevant part in response to the corresponding character. Thus the cursor quickly is positioned on a WYSIWYG display screen.
