The X and Y components are separately integrated with a X register 402 and Y component register 403 respectively, and outputted by a certain amount corresponding to the data so as to be plotted, for example, on the map with a display 500. With such an arrangement, it is possible to continuously learn the actual position of the vehicle. The direction detector 100 can employ a device composed of a float 4 having a photoconductive groove 41a, a light emitting element 8, a photoelectric switch 9 and the like.
