CONSTITUTION: There is provided a shop primer compsn. which is useful as a primary rust-resisting paint and produces a rust-resisting paint film having good adhesion to a topcoat, obtd. by blending a vehicle component (A) composed of 100pts.wt. of a hydrolyzate of an alkyl silicate having a degree of hydrolysis of 70W 120% and 5W40pts.wt. of an acrylic ester polymer with a pigment component (B) composed of 100pts.wt. of zinc dust and 20W200pts.wt. of other pigment than zinc dust in such a proportion as to give a dry coating film having a zinc dust content of 40W75wt%.
