An HA terminal 16 of an electric rice cooker 1 is composed of a connector, etc., with being attachable and detachable to the adapter 4. Then, a signal to be inputted here is impressed as the power source turning-on signal to an MPU11 and rice cooking is started. Accordingly, for the rice cooker 1, by connecting the terminal 16 to the adapter 4, a power source can be controlled to turn on from the distant place through a telephone line 2.
