The synthetic image signal is written on a recording medium after applying the encoding processing of a discrete cosine transformation circuit 20, a nonlinear quantization circuit 18, and a variable length encoder/decoder 16, etc. Therefore, the processing time of around 4/30 seconds is required in the reproducing system, however, the synthetic image signal can be deassembled to four 1/4compression image signals by passing the frame memory 24, and each compression image signal is read out at one frame cycle frame by frame in prescribed sequence. Thereby, it is possible to reproduce the moving image of one frame cycle without performing the inter-motion compensation frame predictive encoding.
