CONSTITUTION: Unoriented film 12 is unrolled from starting roll of thermoplastic synthetic resin 11, introduced into pressure rollers 14 and cut into tapes with slitter 16. Then, they are drawn on curved hot plate for drawing 18 to provide a splitting- resistant, drawn tape. This tape is made to slide on splitting device 21 equipped with edges with a lead angle of 1W5° under tension, meanwhile the splitting device 21 is made to revolve at such a high speed that the peripheral speed of the device 21 becomes higher than twocie the running speed of the drawn tape, thus producing the objective split yarn.
EFFECT: This yarn keeps its characteristics even when twisted and woven into cloth and the texture is not deformed because it has innumerable fluffs. The woven cloth has comparable properties with jute cloth.
