In the underground water an anaerobic atmosphere is formed and carbon sources 6 such as sawdust under the 2nd trench groove 7 extending below the water surface 11 between grooves 4 makes it easy for denitrifying bacteria to increase. In this case, denitrifying bacteria in the sewage operate on nitrated nitrogen, which is reduced into nitrogen gas and the sewage having the nitrogen removed is discharged from drain pipe 8.
