CONSTITUTION: An aq. soln. of disodium phosphate and an aq. soln. of calcium chloride are mixed at high temp. to synthesize hexagonal-columnar or acicular monetite. The monetite is allowed to react with an aq. soln. of potassium hydroxide under heating to wet-synthesize acicular hydroxyapatite. The acicular hydroxyapatite is dried at about 100-300°C for about 2-50hr under ordinary pressure to adjust the contents of the phosphate ion and the anions (e.g. hydroxide ion and carbonate ion) other than the phosphate ion respectively to 7-9wt.%. The obtained acicular hydroxyapatite exhibits high adsorptivity and separability to the acidic biopolymer and basic biopolymer and is excellent in reproducibility.
