CONSTITUTION: The sludge taken from a clarification tank is divided into raw urine and clarification tank sludge through the measurement of chlorine concentration. The raw urine is treated in aerobic or anaerobic condition, while the sludge is treated by flocculation-dehydration with use of a cationic floccuant; the both treated liquids are combined together and subjected to an activated sludge treatment. The use of the cationic flocculant reduces the BOD of the sludge treated water to below 500 ppm and enables the combination of the water with urine treated water for activated sludge treatment. The dehydrated cake formed from the clarification tank sludge may be turned into compost which can be used as a soil improver.
