The fungicides or herbicides can be used in conjunction with other treatments, e.g. taxol for the treatment of breast cancer. Potentiators can also be included in the herbicidal or fungicidal composition. This method is particularly effective when the cancer or virus is an animal cell genetically modified by plant or fungus genetic material. A chemotherapeutic agent can also be administered first to significantly reduce the size of the cancer and then the treatment with the herbicide or fungicide is used.
