CONSTITUTION: A positioning mark 15 is attached to the side face of an unmanned carrier 11, and a transfer machine 31 is set at the front of a store shelf 21 of a ground transfer device together with a recognizer 41 fixed at the front of the machine 31. In addition, a guide tape 13 pasted on the front floor of the ground transfer device and the carrier 11 passes through the tape 13. A stop mark 14 is added to the tape 13 and the carrier 11 senses the mark 14 to stop there. Both the mark 14 and the recognizer 41 are set in the prescribed positional relation so that the mark 15 gets into an effective viewfield of the recognizer 41 when the carrier 11 stops. Thus it is not required to set a positioning mark recognizer and an upper table working mechanism into the carrier 11. As a result, a compact and light-weight carrier 11 is obtained.
