摘要 | Dimeric 1,4-bis-(cyclopentadienyl)-butene-2 is prepared by heating the monomer to 70-150 DEG C. The monomeric 1,4-bis-(cyclopentadienyl) -butene-2 may be prepared by reacting 1,4 - dichlorobutene - 2 with cyclopentadienyl potassium or sodium or with cyclopentadienyl magnesium bromide when the whole reaction mixture may be heated to 70-150 DEG C. to obtain the dimer. The Specification describes but does not claim the preparation of dimeric a ,a 1-bis-(cyclopentadienyl)-para-xylone by adding tertiary butanol to a suspension of sodium in anhydrous tetrahydrofuran after which monomeric cyclopentadiene followed by a ,a 1-dichloro -para-xylene are added, the reaction mass is neutralized with acetic acid and the above dimer recovered by distillation under reduced pressure.
