Demonstrative and practising sports implement for free-style, breast and butterfly swimming

The invention relates to demonstrative and practising sports implement whereby 6-10 year old children can easily learn to swim with butterfly, free-style and breast stroke without water. The implement according to the invention is suitable to become adept at the correct arm and leg movements. It helps the swimming master and physical instructor to attend to several children at the same time in the drill hall and on the area near the swimming pool. With the aid of correct written instruction the parents can easily teach their children the mentioned swimming styles and to perform musclebuilding exercises.

As known the number of swimming pools is insufficient in Hungary and in several other countries, and limited is the possibility for the children to learn the basic swimming styles and the correct arm and leg movements. The experts are familiar with the USA patent specification providing the possibility for adults practising in water. Drawback of this solution is the complicated construction laid in the basin and it provides the possibility of training only for those already capable to swim. Further drawback is that it is localized, requires basin and its high cost is prohibitive for individuals or small communities to procure it at a reasonable price.

The invention is aimed at producing an implement without the mentioned shortcomings, to be propagated in a wide circle and to learn easily the correct movements of swimming styles. The objective is attained by an implement where the basic body made of closed profile is provided with reinforcements with holes on them for adjustment. Lying board with spring telescope is arranged on the basic body on which an adjustable arch is formed with hand-guiding car and headrest.

Two parallel spring telescopic thigh-supports are arranged on the basic body followed by two telescopic mechanisms provided for the correct legmovement. For practical purposes several holes are arranged on the connecting elements of the basic body for spacing the elements of the three swimming styles at convenient distance in order to adjust the mechanism according to the height of the children.

Fig.1. shows the perspective view of the implement, while Appendices 1 and 2. illustrate the structural plan of the various elements.

The invention consists of two parallel closed profiles C1 and C2 connected with reinforcing closed profiles C3, C4, C5, C6 through releasable joint. The corners are closed by releasably connected screwed element (12 in Appendix 2.). Telescope G supporting the lying board Al is arranged on the inner free part of the basic body, which is covered in the perspective view. For better seating it is advisable to place a supporting plate to the bottom of the telescope. Telescope of the lying board (G, in Appendix 1.) is releasably connected to a ball joint arranged between the lying board and telescope to ensure the forward, backward and lateral movements. To prevent overturning inhibitors are releasably connected on each side to the lying board and telescope with the convenience of sliding into each other (G, in App.l.).

Telescope G is releasably connected to reinforcements 1 and 2 which in turn are releasably connected to base C1 and C2.

Ly ing board A1 is shaped as to allow movement and breathing. Sufficiently thick sponge is glued to it for comfort covered by leather or synthetic while Appendices 1 and 2. illustrate the structural plan of the various elements.

Telescope G is releasably connected to reinforcements 1 and 2 which in turn are releasably connected to base C1 and C2.

Lying board Al is shaped as to allow movement and breathing. Sufficiently thick sponge is glued to it for comfort covered by leather or synthetic leather (not shown).

To avoid falling down two padded belts provided with buckles (not shown) are fitted to the lying board and one of the buckles is releasably engaged with the other one on the other side of the board. The lying body is secured by clasping the belt. The adjustable headrest 9 is connected to lying board Al, and the lateral movement is ensured with ball joint for breathing at the correct rythm (not shown). Arches suited to the three swimming styles are used with releasable joint for the correct arm movement. For breast stroke the arm arch is fixed to connecting piece C4. The free-style swimming is shown in perspective view 1. For this purpose both arches 10a, 10b are made of closed profile provided with connecting elements 8a, 8b for reinforcement. The centre of the connecting elements is interlinked with a nodal plate attached to element 7 provided with holes. This allows the releasable engagement of sliding elements 6, 7 provided with holes for the vertical adjustment of the arm arch. The horizontal adjustment is achieved by sliding the vertical element 6 releasably connected to reinforcement 1. This way the arm arch is adjustable horizontally and vertically to varying extent. leather ( not shown) .

To avoid falling down two padded belts provided with buckles (not shown) are fitted to the lying board and one of the buckles is releasably engaged with the other one on the other side of the board. The lying body is secured by clasping the belt. The adjustable headrest S is connected to lying board A1, and the lateral movement is ensured with ball joint for breathing at the correct rythm (not shown). The horizontal adjustment is achieved by sliding the vertical element 6 releasably connected to reinforcement 1. This way the arm arch is adjustable horizontally and vertically to varying extent. The forced arm movement requires a mechanism to maintain the correct position. Sliding cars 11a, lib are used for this purpose. Construction of the sliding cars 11a,b is shown in App. 1. The car prodided with rollers locks the rectangular arm arches 10a, 10b made of closed square profile. The car is releasably and adjustably engaged through ball joint with gloves 11a,b (App.2) provided with buckled strap at the wrist to maintain correct position of the hand. The buckled strap secures the wrist. Resistance of water against the muscles has to be provided for when practising the three swiminning styles. Fig. 1. shows that thigh supports B1, B2 are used to ensure water resistance. Construction of the thigh supports is the same as those of telescope G and reinforcements 1, 2 connected, tα lying, board Al. The thigh supporting telescopes F1, F2 are rigidly connected to spacers D1, D2 provided with holes running parallel with basic elements C1, C2. The spacers allow adjustment to the correct size by the releasable engagement of leg supporting elements E1, E2 sliding into spacers D1, D2. The leg supporting elements E1,E2 are rigidly connected to telescopes E3,E4 provided with pedestals for the correct leg movement. Cross section of the leg supporting telescopes E3,E4 is shown in App.1. The leg supporting telescope ensures the vertical movement of the foot. The feet placed into baskets 20a, 20b connected to leg telescopes E3, E4 are secured by strap (not shown) at the heel.

Movement of the feet along a curve is ensured by stirrups 20a,b rigidly connected to the leg telescope as shown in App.1.

The construction according to the invention enables the correct conditioning of the breast, free-style and butterfly swimming movements. It is an aid for children to learn swimming with an inexpensive inplement without the need of water, which requires small storage space, since the elements are disconnectible.
