" Procedure for the decoration making on lady stockings and on similar garments; and decorated clothes, made following such procedure" .

UESCliimON

This invent ion is referring tυ light clothes, spe cially to liosiery as lady s ockings and pantyhos- es ( ollants) made of a very light yarn which is mostly. a thermυplast i c one.

It is well known that such a kind of clothes, spe cially when they are hosi ery , are rather del i at e and if the yarn breaks just in one point several stiches can drop damaging in a open way the produ . It is known that the filling in this kind of hosiery cloth i rather uniform and that the clo¬ th can be slightly decorated by arranging the ma¬ n facture needles in order tυ get small holes as button Iioles fυl lowing a special drawing. This de corat i on is always very slight and the pattern is rather invi sibl e . ft s possible an evident deco¬ ration by apply ing elements di f f erring both in shape and materials; they can be applyed in diffe rent ways empl υying a special glue spread on the uniform surface of the decora t ive material - the same material having been applied in an unsteady way to a support - due to this procedure, the de¬ corative element will be fixed to the cloth only in those areas where glue has been spread, while anything else belonging tυ the support is removed.

SUBSTITUTE SHEET This invent i on is referring to a decorat i on pro cedure in order to get a bigger result than we got up to now and it concerns also garment s so decorat ed . This and other purposes will be des¬ cribed in the following text.

Prat i cal ly this procedure means that a glue or a steady dressing is applied to the surface of some pieces of hosiery cloth, then a window is to be opened within it removing the cloth insi de and providing that the opening is surround¬ ed by cloth stabi 1 i zed because of the glue or the dressing .

Special ly referring to hosiery cloth, it is possible to apply in a known way (warming the glue or in other way) decorat ive el ement s , such as flocking materials ( films, membranes , thin plates or simi lars) .

These decorat ive element s are applied in order to surround the hosiery cloth which must be re¬ moved and for this reason their design is to be followed while removing the hosiery cloth. These remot ions can be made fol lowing any suit¬ able procedure .

This invent i on is referring to any lady garment as st ockings , col lant s (pantyhoses) and simi lars in light cloth, special ly to hosiery cloth with decorat ive openings made by removing cloth areas and surrounded by cloth stabi 1 i zed becouse of a dressing , a glue or similar. The openings can be useful ly surrounded by a decorat i on fixed to the cloth, this decorat i on can be a locking materi¬ al, a thin plate or simi lar .

This invent i on can be better underst ood follow¬ ing the below descript ion and the end osed dra¬ wing, in which it is shown how to employ the sa me invent ion without any limit.

Picture n.l - fn this sketch you can see the sha pe of a pantyhose with marked decorat ions on the outside of the leg.

Picture n.2 - You can see an enlerged local area of the previous sketch (picture n.l) referring to ff and fff; le Pi ctures n .3 I k - You can see a support for deco retive el ement s which must be appl ied . These sket ches include a frontal one and a section referring to IV - IV in picture n.3 and le

Picture n.5 1 6 - You can see how to apply a decora t i on and how to complete it by removing the cloth within it.

As from sket ches in pi ctures n.3 - h - 5, you can see a support for the appl i cat i on of decorat ions to a hosiery cloth, for istance in a lady stocking or similar, general ly a very light hosiery cloth. It is requi red a support 3 on which it has been sp read and slightly fixed - in an unsteady way - a material 5 general ly called a "flocking" material becouse of the way it has been spread on the surf a ce of the support 3, a glue 7 is supposed to be di st ribut ed over the fl ocking material only in those areas concerning the decorat i on design 5 which u st be applied to the cloth. All the el ement s 3, 5, 7, must be pressed against the cloth area where you want the decorat i on due to an anchorage t re tment - that is usual ly , but not necessary , a .lot treat¬ ment - enabl ing the glue 7 to be fixed to the manu¬ facture cloth 1 together with the material 5 spread on the same areas where the glue 7 is. With the re- motion of the support 3 away from the cloth where it has been pressed , all the material 5 without glue 7 is taken away, too; in this way only the material with glue 5A will be fixed to the cloth after the glue 7 has become active because of the anchorage procedure to the cloth 1, whereas other areas 5B of the decorat ive material together with the support 3 are taken away. That decorat ing procedure is freque ntly employed and it is good either to fix a kind of materials 5 like short and small fibres or simi lars, and to fix other kind of decorat ive mat rials like films, thin metal plates or metallized ones.

This way of decorat ing , already known in its proce¬ dure, has been employed for this invent ion in accor dance with the drawing end osed , to realize a deco¬ ration increase by removing the cloth in circumscri¬ bed areas of the hosiery cloth in order to get a par ticular visual effect which is st onger than the one achi eved in the way above explained and employ ing the materials as in the previous descript i on .

In accordance with this invent i on the decorat i on , on which glue 7 has been spread is partly concived in order to surround some areas 9 (Pi ctures 3 - k) where the glue has not been spread. When the deco¬ ration with glue or dressing 7 is fixed to the ho¬ siery cloth 1 in the way above described , as in pi¬ cture 5, the areas 3 meet the areas lx in the hosie ry cloth 1 surrounded with decorat i ons 5A fixed to the hosiery cloth as in pi ctures 3 - k. The cloth lx after beeϊng surrounded in that way, is taken a- way as in picture 6, point K, opening small windows with a strong decorat ive result; these openings in the pi ctures 1 - 3 - k are round only for illustra- tive reasons, as a matter of fact they can have any shape requi ed on condit ion that they ere surround¬ ed by the fixed decorat i on as in 5A , in order to produce a pecul iar aesthet i c result.

Cloth remot ion can be got in several ways in accor¬ dance with the iliform nature of the hosiery cloth 1.

The fixed decorat i on 5A can be emplyed to better lo cate the area where cloth must be removed . Whereas hoi 1 ow punches are employed it is clear that they are able not only to cut the cloth but even to remo ve all those areas which must be taken away in order to open small windows in a decorat i on fixed to the manufacture product, for i stance to a leg of a lady st ocking or collant (pantyhose) . Any other way of removing the cloth can be emplyed with different te¬ chniques.

It is plain that the glue 7, spread all around the openings , in order to fix the decorat ion ares 5A to the hosiery cloth, stabi 1 i zes it prevent ing from stich dropping and from ladders even when cuts and cloth remot i ons lx have been made.

It is underst ood that the drawing end osed refers only to an example just to explain how the invent f on can be put into practice; meanwhile the inven¬ ti n can have d fferent shapes and di ferent ways of employment without going beyond the idea which describes the same invent i on . For tance it can happen to dress the hosiery clo h with glue, for i stance a t rasparent and invi sibl e one, without any decorat ive appl i at i on as 5 , in order to pre¬ vent from stich dropping , that is from ladders; in that case the only decora t i on is given by the ope¬ nings; otherwi se i looks be ter o ma ch the ope¬ nings with a fixed decorat i on . Moreover it can al o happen that t ie hosiery cloth is removed together with the decoration support, during the same υpera- t i on .
