PURPOSE:To obtain an optical disc exhibiting a small double refraction when laser beams run through it, by using low-photoelastic constant aromatic polycarbonate copolymer produced by using two specified bisphenol compounds as a base material. CONSTITUTION:97-3mol% 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)butane of formula I is mixed with 3-97mol% 4,4'-dihydroxy-2,2,2-triphenylethane of formula II. This mixture is transesterified with diphenyl carbonate or polycondensed with phosgene to produce an aromatic polycarbonate copolymer. An optical information recording disc on which a signal is recorded by using laser beams and from which the recorded signal is read by reflection or transmission of laser beams is produced by using the above copolymer as a base material. |
