An apparatus for enveloping an object that is susceptible to infestation by insects, such as bed bugs, includes a pre-sized object encasement device equipped with selectively engaged sealing devices to prevent insects from infesting the object. The apparatus further employs a plurality of barriers to augment the selectively engaged sealing device to prevent insects that have already infested the object from exiting the object through any potential openings in the selectively engageable sealing device. |

Embodiments of the invention provide covers for bed components, such as mattresses and/or box-springs, which limit bed bug access to the bed component. According to one embodiment, a cover for a bed component may include an opening that provides access to an interior of the cover and through which a bed component (e.g., a mattress or box-spring) may be inserted, a zipper coupled along the opening, a zipper mechanism slidable along the zipper to couple opposing teeth of the zipper to allow the opening to be zipped closed to enclose the bed component within the cover, a first flap foldable and securable over a distal end of the zipper, a second flap foldable and securable over the first flap, and a barrier material disposed between the second flap and the zipper for applying pressure to the zipper to minimize a gap between the zipper and the first flap. |

A method of making foam imparts antimicrobial and antiodorant qualities to the foam. Green tea powder is added to the polyol raw materials for making memory foam. The green tea memory foam is used to make pillows, cushions and mattresses. Green tea foam in the top layer of a mattress acts as an antiodorant such that less of the chemical smell of the memory foam is perceived by the user. In addition, the bacteria and mold that would otherwise develop in the moist warmer sleeping environment on memory foam are killed by the green tea additive to the foam. Measurable antimicrobial and antiodorant qualities in the green tea foam are achievable by adding green tea powder constituting less than 2% of the weight of the resulting green tea foam. A neck-support contour pillow is made using memory foam that contains green tea and a green dye. |

The present technology provides an encasement comprising a fabric cover formed of bed bug impervious fabric. The encasement comprises an opening with a zipper mechanism disposed therein and operable to close the opening. The encasement also comprises a barrier attached to the fabric cover, extending along and opposite the zipper tracks. The encasement also comprises a channel between the barrier and said zipper tracks that receives a portion of the zipper head and becomes an enclosed channel when said zipper tracks are mated together. The channel has a confined space of a size to thwart bug movement along the channel. |

A mattress encasement with improved bed bug protection includes an encasement body configured to cover a mattress and a zipper disposed at an opening in the encasement body and movable between an open condition permitting insertion and removal of the mattress and a closed condition preventing bed bugs from traversing the zipper. The zipper has a zipper head and a zipper pull pivotable on the zipper head. A clasp is at least partly fixed to the encasement body. A hook-and-loop fastener is associated with the encasement body and the clasp for locking the zipper pull to the clasp with the zipper in the closed condition to prevent movement of the zipper head and opening of the zipper. |

Protective assemblies for zippers described may include a protective barrier for preventing migration of particles and/or organisms between opposite surfaces of the barrier. When a zipper assembly is brought to a closed position, a zipper slider may form a connection with the barrier resulting in an obstruction to block infiltration of small particles or organisms (e.g., bed bugs, allergens, dust mites, small particles, etc.). The barrier may be attached to an article, such as a padded material for use with a bedding/furniture cover. In some embodiments, a cover may be implemented to enclose a portion of the zipper slider. The barrier may include one or more padding materials for preventing migration of small particles or organisms past obstructions formed by the padding material(s). |

The present invention is a self-inflating heat sanitizer, which uses convective heat transfer to eradicate bed bugs within an item. The heater unit propagates and reheats the air within the present invention as the heated air flows through the present invention. The heat chamber enclosure is a compartment that allows the heated air to circulate around the item and raise the temperature of the item to above 140° F. The structure of the heat chamber enclosure is inflatable walls, which are pressurized when the heated air flows into the heat chamber enclosure. The heated air will then vent out of the inflatable walls into the treatment volume, where the item is located. The insulated ducts lead the heated air from the heater unit into the inflatable walls and lead the heated air from the treatment volume back to the heater unit. |

Dew condensation-preventing mattress is constructed to have a three-dimensional netted structure by extruding a molten material containing at least a thermoplastic resin into filaments, forming an aggregation of multiple filaments looped and randomly entangled with partial thermal adhesion in a plate-like shape, and cooling down to solidify the plate-like aggregation of the multiple filaments. The three-dimensional netted structure has hard side regions of a higher bulk density formed on left and right longitudinal side faces of the three-dimensional netted structure. The dew condensation-preventing mattress of this arrangement has an effect of dew condensation prevention as well as an effect of body pressure dispersion. |
