A pocketed spring assembly comprises a plurality of parallel strings of individually pocketed springs. Each string is joined to at least one adjacent string. Each string has first and second opposed plies of fabric and a plurality of pockets formed along a length of the string by transverse segmented seams joining the plies. Gaps between the segments of the seams allow air to pass into and out of the pockets despite the fabric being impermeable to airflow through the fabric. The size of the gaps determines the firmness or “feel” of the pocketed spring assembly or portion thereof. |

A mattress protector completely encloses a mattress. The top wall is removable from the side walls by operating a zipper. The zipper includes protective features designed to prevent bed bugs from leaving the interior of the mattress protector via the zipper slide. When the top wall is removed from the side walls, the present invention includes supports for the side walls so that when the top wall is removed, the side walls remain erect so that the top wall can easily be reattached by placing the top wall over the top surface of the mattress and then operating the zipper around the side walls to reattach the top wall. A number of different embodiments of structures designed to hold the side walls upright when the top wall is removed are disclosed. |

A cushion that is heated convectively using a positive temperature coefficient of resistance type resistive heating element that is provided with heat exchanging surfaces, includes a mattress pad, seat or the like with a bottom surface secured around its perimeter to an air permeable top surface, forming a plenum and containing tubular spacer material or other air flow structure therein. The plenum is connected to a power unit housing a blower, a heating module and a controller unit. The heating module includes a PTC type heating element in conduction with a base plate and a number of heat exchanger fins. Preferably the heating element is sandwiched between a pair of the base plates and the heat exchanger fins, and there is a seal between the base plates to minimize air flow from the blower from passing there between. A remote control for the user's convenience may be provided, and a foldable antenna attachable to the convective unit facilitates wireless communication between the remote control and controller unit. The user resting atop the cushion is able to control the blower and heating module to deliver air of a desired temperature and quantity to the cushion and through the top surface. The invention advantageously replaces the current carrying, conductive wires and insulation found inside prior art heated mattresses, enhancing safety and performance while at the same time offering a cooled or ventilated capability. |

Display mattress protectors are provided that protect mattresses in a mattress showroom when customers lie on the mattresses and place their feet on the mattresses. A display mattress protector may be formed from a clear vinyl sheet with reverse-printed promotional information on its lower surface. The promotional information may include a manufacturer's logo. By reverse printing the promotional information on the underside of the mattress protector, the printed information is not subject to wear from the shoes of the customers. Because the sheet is clear, the promotional information is visible to the customers. Because the vinyl is thick, the vinyl does not wrinkle significantly. Shock cord firmly attaches the mattress protector to the mattress. Barbs at the ends of the shock cord attach the shock cord to the vinyl sheet. Cord stoppers are used to make coarse adjustments to the lengths of the shock cord to accommodate different mattresses. |

A removable mattress cover assembly includes a removable mattress cover that attaches to an upright wall assembly. The upright wall assembly includes an upright wall that attaches to a top of a mattress base and one or more wall fasteners attached at or near the top of the upright wall. The removable mattress cover includes cover fasteners that mate with respective wall fasteners to attach the cover to the upright wall. When the cover fasteners are attached to the wall fasteners, the removable mattress cover lays over the top of the mattress base, and the upright wall is nearly perpendicular to the removable mattress cover. This allows a fill material that is nearly the same size as the top of the mattress to be inserted beneath the removable mattress cover. The fasteners can project upwardly, away from the top of the mattress base, making the fasteners easily accessible from above. |

A furniture protection device is disclosed that includes a plurality of angle members arranged in parallel adjacent position. Each angle member includes two intersecting surfaces that define a sharp edge. The angle members are flexibly attached to one another by ropes inserted through apertures in the angle members. The ropes include knots at each end to retain the angle members on the ropes. In an alternate embodiment, additional knots are disposed along the length of the ropes. The additional knots are located between apertures of each individual angle member to maintain the position of each of the angle members with respect to the ropes. In another embodiment, a plurality of elastic fabric strips are attached to a pair of long fabric strips to form elastic apertures therein. A plurality of angle members are inserted into corresponding ones of the elastic apertures in each of the pair of fabric strips so that the angle members are spaced apart and all oriented in a single direction to form an uncomfortable surface for household pets. |
