Example implementations are directed to a system that can be used to monitor the state of an occupant of a structure, such as a bed or a mattress. The states that can be monitored include whether or not the occupant is present, the position of the occupant, entry or exit of the occupant, and other signs that can be detected via movement, such as activity level, breathing, epileptic seizures, and heart rate. Example implementations involve one or more accelerometers disposed on the structure, such that the movement or changes in position by the occupant is transferred to the accelerometers, and a computing system to process the data from the accelerometers. |

A system is disclosed for facilitating rotation of a mattress in a horizontal plane carried by a box spring or a platform. Surfaces between the mattress and the box spring or platform are selectively placed in engagement with each other. The surfaces may be provided by two separate covers; a single cover and the inherent surface roughness of the box spring or fixed or adjustable platform; a single cover with an embedded surface or no covers with embedded surfaces in both the mattress and the box spring or platform. In the latter embodiment, the mattress and the box spring or platform are secured together in a normal mode of operation to prevent unintended movement of the mattress. |

A temporary storage device fabricated at least in part of memory stretch material (such as synthetic rubber, e.g. polychloroprene material and the like. A storage portion of said device may be fabricated from the same polychloroprene material and is configured with at least one defined storage pocket. An attachment portion of the storage device has defined therein at least one generally annular stretchable opening. This attachment opening, due to the elastically stretchable quality of the device fabric will be stretched sufficiently to surround and cling snugly to a support stanchion such as a bedpost commonly found on a bunk or loft bed. More than one attachment opening of different sizes can be defined in the attachment portion so as to sizably correspond with different posts. The suspended storage device remains in place due to its gripping elasticity as well as gravity pull which distorts and further tightens the elastic opening. |

A storage system stores and easily locates common items, such as reading glasses, remote controls, cell phones, magazines, books, and the like, while a person is in a room or in bed. In an emergency, a person may be able to easily locate these items. The storage system may replace a cluttered nightstand and may provide immediate location of necessary items. The storage system may include a pillow that may span a length of a bed, along the head end of a mattress. The pillow may prevent people, such as children or infants, and items from falling between the head of the mattress and either the wall or headboard. The pillow may also provide an elevated surface to prop up a user's pillow for reading or watching television. |
