81 A bed, in particular nursing bed EP96200528.6 1996-02-29 EP0732070A1 1996-09-18 Schulte, Herman Hendrik; Linders, Thomas Franciscus; van Dullemen, Marlies

The invention relates to a bed, in particular nursing bed, provided with a bed frame (1), that is supported, in a cantilever fashion, by a supporting and guiding device (6) positioned on one side of said frame (1), wherein said frame is vertically adjustable by means of a drive means (13,13A). According to the invention said frame (1) has, at its supported side (1A), a supporting lever (2) extending from the plane of the said frame (1), said lever (2) being, adjacent its upper end (3), pivotally attached to a bracket (4A) that is mounted for up and down movements along said supporting and guiding device (6), while bearing adjacent its lower end (14) onto a guiding surface (15A) that changes, at a location where a downward bed frame movement passes beyond a (lower) operative horizontal position, from a vertical plane into a plane that slopes towards the non supported side of said frame.

82 SELF STANDING SUPPORT STRUCTURE AND METHOD EP94909725.0 1994-02-28 EP0642314A1 1995-03-15 MEYER, Fred M.; MEYER, Douglas S.; MEYER, Michelle D.
A self standing supporting structure (28) and method for use in providing sleeping and/or resting accommodations in a limited space area such as in a college dormitory, a medical institution, a prison and in other areas. The structure is designed to support at least one bed and/or other accommodation device (40, 42) in at least two positions, one position being a 'non-use' position and the other position being a 'use' position. The bed and/or other accommodation devices (40) are pivotally mounted on the supporting structure and are retained in the desired position by at least one retaining device (44). The structure may also be constructed with adjustable feature (140, 142) to make the width of the device shorter as desired to facilitate the cleaning and/or painting of walls in the space area adjacent to the device. Also disclosed is a novel safety lock retainer device (46) for retaining the bed in a horizontal position and a novel method for providing sleeping and/or resting accommodations in a limited space using the applicant's supporting structure.

87 FRAME FOR, IN PARTICULAR, RELAXATION FURNITURE, THERAPY EQUIPMENT OR THE LIKE PCT/EP2007005052 2007-06-07 WO2007144107A3 2008-02-21 JANSEN KLAUS; HOFFMANN MARIAN
Known frames for both relaxation furniture and therapy equipment are designed such that a surface on which individuals can rest is able to execute pendulum movements. For this purpose, use is made of cable pendulums which execute uncontrolled pendulum movements. It has been found that such uncontrolled pendulum movements are often felt to be uncomfortable and are unsuitable for therapy equipment. According to the invention, pendulums for frames of relaxation furniture or therapy equipment are formed from straps (16) which can only execute a single-axis pendulum movement and thus produce controlled movements of relaxation furniture or therapy equipment in the simplest manner.
88 SO-CALLED FOLD-AWAY BED PCT/EP2004009720 2004-09-01 WO2005023058B1 2005-04-21 BRUN GIANCARLO
The invention concerns a so-called fold-away bed, to be used in the fields of camping, seamanship, furnishing of bedsits and in all other dwellings where there is a lack of space, for which reason the components of the furniture must take up a minimum amount of space. Such a bed is characterised in that, in rest state, it is lifted until it comes into contact with the ceiling of the room in which it is inserted. In the dependant claims of the finding there are also special means that allow said bed to be moved.

97 BED LIFT US14177936 2014-02-11 US20140159410A1 2014-06-12 C. Martin Rasmussen
A bed lift system for a vehicle includes a first moving member, a guide member, a second moving member, and a flexible drive member. The first and second moving member are configured to be coupled to a bed. The guide member is configured to be coupled to the vehicle and cooperate with the first moving member to guide vertical movement of the bed. The flexible drive member is coupled to the first moving member and the second moving member. The bed lift system is configured so that raising the first moving member exerts tension on the flexible drive member which raises the second moving member and lowering the first moving member releases tension on the flexible drive member which lowers the second moving member.

A new and useful system and method of raising and lowering a bed is provided. A bed system comprises a bed, and a balanced movement system for raising and lowering the bed and for maintaining the bed in a stopped position when application of force to the bed is stopped. The balanced movement system is (i) configured to enable the bed to be raised or lowered by application of force to the bed in a selected direction, and (ii) configured such that when application of the force ceases the bed will come to a stopped position and be maintained in the stopped position by the balanced movement system. In order to raise or lower the bed, a relatively modest force is applied (preferably manually) to the bed in a selected direction.

A retractable bed is disclosed which can be raised and lowered in a vertical fashion. The retractable bed includes a frame for holding a mattress; and a counterbalance system to raise and lower the bed through vertical displacement. When the bed is in the lowered configuration it will come into contact with the floor thereby permitting a person to sleep on the bed. When the bed is in the raised configuration it will be near the ceiling thereby permitting a person to pass under the bed. The counterbalance system provides a convenient way to take the bed down and to put it away.
