A mounting apparatus for securing a plurality of independent seating sections together to form a modular sofa assembly. The independent seating sections have lower front and rear end portions with either front and rear cross bars substantially parallel to the front and rear end portions or side frame members substantially perpendicular to the front and rear end portions. A first elongated frame rail is secured to the front and rear of each seating unit having side frame members, and connecting feet are secured to seating units having front and rear cross bars. The seating units are aligned in close side-by-side proximity and connecting links are used to secure the frame members or connecting feet of adjacent seating units to form a sofa or loveseat. The sofa or loveseat is easily disassembled by removing the connecting links from the frame members and connecting feet. Elongated apertures in the frame members and connecting feet engage locking tabs formed in the connecting feet to secure the connecting links to the frame members and connecting feet and to provide adjustment of the side-by-side relationship of the seating units.

Each of the mechanisms includes a seat mounting link which together carry a seat frame that in turn carries the seat of the chair. An ottoman linkage is mounted on the front of the seat mounting link in each mechanism and together they carry the ottoman which moves between retracted and extended positions. The mechanisms also include a backrest linkage which carries the backrest frame that, in turn, carries the backrest. On one side only of the chair an arm panel is secured to the seat frame and moves together with the seat in fixed relationship thereto as the chair moves between upright and reclined positions. On the same side as the arm panel, a backrest side wing is mounted on the backrest frame so as to move with it. The arm panel and backrest wing are disposed on the side of the chair section which forms an end of a modular furniture grouping.
71 Reclining chair having pop-up headrest US43561 1993-04-07 US5340191A 1994-08-23 Teddy J. May
The left and right side linkages of a mechanism for a reclining chair are provided with respective pantographic linkage systems. An actuator link is provided for each, which causes the headrest which is mounted to the upper end of each such linkage system to rotate relatively forwards by about 90 degrees as the backrest is reclined as the chair goes from its fully erect to its TV and fully reclined positions. The mechanism provides low back, wall-saver operation for the chair reclining function without necessitating a thick or oddly appearing style.

A furniture arrangement includes a worksurface having a side edge and opposite front and rear edges, where the worksurface is vertically spaced so as to define leg space beneath each of the front and rear edges. A chair is positioned adjacent the rear edge and has a backrest defined by first and second back support portions extending in first and second directions. The first and second back support portions are substantially perpendicular. The first back support portion has an end positioned adjacent the rear edge such that the second back support portion is spaced from the rear edge and defines an ingress and egress opening between the second back support portion and the rear edge. The first and second back support portions and the rear edge define a U-shaped occupancy space in plan view.
77 Ready to assemble sectional sofa and method US13088500 2011-04-18 US08764114B1 2014-07-01 Jeffrey A. Frank; Glenn Laughlin

The sectional sofa includes a central section having a seat and a pair of backs positioned approximately ninety degrees to each other forming a V-shaped opening therebetween. Affixed on each side of the central section is a side section which includes a back frame that can be easily inserted or removed into a seat frame as needed. End sections having a back frame, seat frame and an arm frame are affixed to each side section. Each back includes a pair of stakes which are slideably engaged within rectangular apertures in the seat frame for ease in manufacturing and stability in use. Additional standard bolts connect each section together for safety and convenience. The central section V-shaped opening allows for simplicity during construction and adds to the aesthetic qualities of the sofa design.

In a further aspect, the first connector is a rotatable clamp and the second connectors are hooks to which the rotatable clamp is connectable.
79 Reversible sofa US12589963 2009-10-30 US20110101763A1 2011-05-05 Lionel T. Chen
This invention concerns a sofa which solves the problems of the prior art by providing a sofa that can easily be assembled or disassembled by the end consumer at home. The disassembled sofa can be stored in flat boxes. Storage in the flat boxes not only helps the warehouse to store the sofa, but when the end user has purchased the sofa it is easier in such flat boxes to transport it to the location where it will be assembled. The way this invention accomplishes these results is as follows: Chaise sections can be assembled by placing the seat back flat on the ground and placing the seat frame/arm upright on top of the seat back. A metal threaded rod is used to connect the seat frame and the seat back. A metal nut is used to secure the seat frame to the back using a wrench that comes provided in the package of the kit. The legs are then twisted onto the bottom of the seat frame.
