A desk assembly (10) comprises a base (12) adapted to stably engage a floor surface. An upright support member (14) is secured to and extends upwardly from the base. Locking means is operable to selectively secure said desk intermediate said lower and upper positions. The provision of an upwardly biased force by biasing means, between the upper and lower positions, improves convenience for the user when adjusting height of the desk.

Er weist im Längsschnitt die im Faltbereich geringeren Wandstärken auf, als die übrigen Bereiche des Fal­tenbalges, um ein Ausbrechen des Balges senkrecht zu seiner Ausziehrichtung zu verhindern.Er hat ferner mindestens parallel zueinander liegende schienenför­mige Lager (51), mit welchen die Harmonika-Wandteile (53) schwenkbar verbunden sind, welche Lager (51) bei geschlossenem Balg eine innere und äussere ge­schlossene Wand bilden. Zwischen diesen Wänden lie­gen die Harmonika-Wandteile (53) aneinander. Dabei werden im Querschnitt gleichseitige Dreiecke aufwei­sende Hohlräume (55) begrenzt. Dieser Faltenbalg er­möglicht es, bei Verstellung der Tischauflagefläche das ästhetische Aeussere des Möbels zu wahren und trotzdem den inneren Aufbau zur Aufnahme von elek­trischen Leitungen u.dgl. optimal zu gestalten.
