The present invention provides a key ring (18) capable of removing a crown cap (10) from a bottle. The crown cap has a rim (12) and a top (11). The key ring can admit and retain keys and comprises a closed loop including a first portion having a pair of elongated arms (20,22) that extend in the same general direction (Y) and are spaced apart in an orthogonal direction (X) by a distance of 10 to 40mm. The bottle can be opened by locating one of the arms (22) under the rim of a crown cap while the other of the arms (20) is located on the top of the crown cap and the key ring is twisted in the direction of arrow A. The length of the loop in the direction (Y) is at least 20 mm so that the loop includes a second portion (25) that extends laterally beyond the crown cap by a distance that allows the key ring to be engaged by the user to twist the key ring and lever the cap off the bottle. A key (30) on the key ring and/or an extension (26) of the key ring loop in the X direction can assist in levering the cap off the bottle.

2 Key ring spreader US12380809 2009-05-28 US20100071518A1 2010-03-25 Margaret Marie Stinson
A key ring spreader includes a plate having a thin gauge material thickness and generally flat configuration. The plate defines a hole adjacent an end of the plate that is configured to receive a free end of a key ring. The plate may be slid between the split rings of a key ring and twisted so as to separate the split rings sufficiently to insert or remove keys therefrom with ease.
3 Split ring and pellet method stitchless fastener coil separation tool US10395514 2003-03-24 US07028594B1 2006-04-18 Robert Mentken
A guidance channel radiating from each side of clip holding chamber centered on a flat plate. A prying tool slideably and rotatably held within each guidance channel by a spring strip. A split ring held snugly within the holding chamber. The tool tips are forced between the split ring coils, which are separated further by simultaneous rotation of the prying tool handles 90-degrees in opposite clock directions. A pellet placed inside folded bag material forms a bump. The material with bump is placed between the separated coils into the split ring interior. Reverse 90-degree handle rotation partly closes the coils around the bump. Withdrawing the prying tools completely allows the coils to fully close, capturing the pellet-containing material. Tool stops prevent the tool tips from entering the split ring interior too far into or away from the clip holding chamber. Suspension of the tool and bags facilitates production.

A tool for connecting items to and from a split ring key holder. The tool includes a blade having a distal end opposite a proximal end with an intermediate portion therebetween. The distal end has a generally wedge shape with a narrow distal tip. The intermediate portion has first and second scalloped edges on opposite sides of the intermediate portion. The first and second scalloped edges define respective sequences of peaks and valleys opposed to one another. The narrow distal tip of the distal end of the blade and the first and second scalloped edges of the intermediate portion of the blade are adapted to separate and spread apart the split ring key holder. In the preferred embodiment, the blade is retractable and housed within a housing that provides for translation of the blade along a predetermined translation axis.

9 Key ring attachment US553194 1983-11-18 US4543860A 1985-10-01 James A. Van Meter
An attachment for a split ring type of key ring to facilitate separating of an end of the split ring from the remaining portion of the key ring permitting ease of insertion of a key on the key ring. The attachment comprises a sheet material member which is formed into an enlarged body section from which integrally extends a rounded protrusion. A necked down area connects between the protrusion and the body section. The outer end of the protrusion is sharpened. This sharpened outer end is to be inserted between abutting ring shaped members of the key ring and twisted ninety degrees with the key ring then being located within the necked down area which results in the end of the key ring being spaced from the remaining portion of the key ring facilitating locating of the end of the ring shaped member through the opening formed within the bow of a key.
10 Opener for split ring key holder US158806 1980-06-12 US4325273A 1982-04-20 James Gibbons
A set of keys conventionally carried on a split ring key holder is augmented by a slot-headed wedging probe, having a heavier wedge end than head end, and having a slot length to overall length ratio that permits the probe to be rotated through the central opening of the split ring. When a key is to be slipped onto or off the split ring, the device is manipulated to insert the wedging probe between the split ring turns near the relevant end of the split. Thus the split is easily temporarily opened up and the key-slipping act is begun. Then the wedging probe device may be let loose from the user's grasp, whereupon it will naturally turn around and rejoin the set of keys still mounted on the ring.

15 Key ring accessory US12110371 2008-04-28 US20080264126A1 2008-10-30 Chun Kit Huen
The present invention relates to a key ring accessory for a key ring which is a ring of substantially two turns resiliently urged towards each other formed by looping, comprising a body which can removably be engaged with the key ring and at least one protruding member is disposed on one of the inner walls of the body, the end projecting from the protruding member being a pointed end. When the present invention is engaged with the key ring, the key ring can easily be pried open for inserting and/or removing a key. The present invention is of simple construction and is adapted for use with a conventional loop-shaped key ring. It will not break the fingernail or hurt the fingers of a user. It does not require any external aids to pry open the resiliently urged turns of the key ring, thereby making it effort-saving and convenient to insert and/or remove a key. Further, a user does not need to take out other keys when a particular key is to be removed, thereby reducing the chance of losing keys and making the process of removing a key fast and convenient.
16 Key ring opener and method of use US795993 1997-02-05 US5722277A 1998-03-03 James M. Williams
A key ring opener for spreading apart the adjacent end and intermediate portions of a split key ring that are spring-urged against each but are spreadable to allow a key to be placed on or taken off the ring. The opener includes an annular band having sharp circumferential wedging edges and is adapted to encircle such a key ring in the same way as a key, and along with keys on the ring, and a wedging bar extending diametrically of the band and having sharp wedging edges. The opener is slipped on and off the key ring like a key but is easier to do because of the sharp circumferential edges. While on the key ring, the bar can be wedged, again because of its sharp edges, between adjacent segments of the ring, ahead of a key, thereby to spread the segments apart. Thereafter, the band is rolled between the thumb and forefinger causing the bar to leverage the segments of the key ring farther apart thereby to facilitate entry and removal of a key to and from the ring. In addition to being small and lightweight, another valuable feature is that the opener will not come off the ring while the opener is facilitating key entry and removal although it can easily be removed if desired.
