PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve adaptability for assembling shoes by sewing with a thread along the circumferential part of an upper part and the side wall of a mid-sole and, then, attaching the upper part to the mid-sole. SOLUTION: A buffer layer 40 is inserted to the cavity 28 of the mid-sole 14, a cover layer 42 is attached onto an inner surface 20 and the buffer layer 40 is fixed to the cavity 28 so that a mid-sole assembly 4 is produced. Then a sock liner 48 is arranged on the cover layer 42 in the cavity 28 and an elastic member is formed as a whole. The upper part 2 is manually sewed with the mid-sole 14 by using a tool and, then, a buffer insert 26 is disposed and adhered by point to the cavity in the outer surface 22 of the mid-sole 14. An outsole 6 is attached to the mid-sole 14 so that the insert 26 is permanently held at a proper position. When the attachment surface 54 of the outsole 6 is adhered onto the outer surface 22 of the mid-sole 14 by an adhesive, the shoes are completed. A flexible platform is formed by using the mid-sole and various outsole styles and designs can be attached to the specified combination of the upper part with the mid-sole on the platform. The present invention relates to an apparatus (100) for positioning cleats on cycling shoes (C), which includes a base plate (112) suitable for application thereonto of the arch of the foot, a gauge (120) provided with an abutment (126) which can slide freely over said base plate such as to be placed in contact with the heel bone of the foot, a bracing wall (140) for the front portion of the foot, at the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe. According to the invention, the abutment (126) is secured to a plate (122) slidingly mounted parallel to the base plate (112) and at least one mounting (130) for a shoe corresponding to the foot is secured to said sliding plate, said mounting including an abutment (132) suitable for being placed in contact with the counter of the shoe, the apparatus being provided with a marking means (150) rigidly connected to the base (110) of the apparatus (100) and designed to indicate on the sole of the shoe the location for placing the cleat. The apparatus thus enables the transfer, onto the shoe, of the distance recorded between the metatarsophalangeal joint of the big toe and the heel bone. During operation, the marking means shows, on the sole, the position of said joint and, consequently, the exact position for placing the pedal cleat. The cleat is positioned on the shoe in a single operation, which ensures great accuracy of measurement for the apparatus.

Automated painting of a shoe sole portion (600) of a shoe is enhanced by use of a jig (400). The shoe sole portion (600) may be secured between top and bottom plates (412, 410) of the jig (400) such that a side surface (612) of the shoe sole portion (600) is left exposed. Additionally, the jig (400) is adapted to create configurable masking lines along the side surface (612) of the shoe sole portion (600) using multilayer deforming layers (420, 424).

The invention relates to a method for the production of fitted footwear, in particular, fitted shoes, by using a pre-prepared sole (1), a pre-formed strip (6) and an insert (5). The construction takes place on the foot of the eventual shoe-wearer, whereby a pre-prepared sole (1), corresponding to the dimensions of said shoe-wearers foot is searched out. An insert (5) is applied to the sole (1) and the precise fit of the sole (1) and insert checked on the foot. A pre-formed strip (6) is placed over the foot of the eventual shoe-wearer and fitted to the pre-prepared sole (1). The invention further relates to footwear prepared according to said method.
