A novelty face mask is assembled from one or two coasters and a conventional drinking straw. One embodiment of the coaster is of generally circular shape with a linear slot proximate the outer edge, such slot defining a tab on the coaster that can be inserted into one end of the straw and a peephole strategically located so as to accommodate a user's eye. Two such coasters can be used with one straw, and in this case, both tabs are inserted together into the straw's end. The two coasters will normally be covered with a complementary design such that the assemblage of the coasters and the straw creates a novelty face mask, which may be promotional, celebratory, or of some other theme. A method for assembling such masks and the resulting masks are disclosed. |

A hair ring or hair strip with a doll mask is formed by a hair ring, a plastic mask, and two plastic ears. After assembling the three components, surface layers are adhered to the inner and outer surfaces of the mask. The nose bridge at the center of the mask and the edge of the ears are installed with a plurality of enhancing trenches, and a plurality of slender metal wires are embedded into the trenches. An edge of the ear is added with a bank of slots, thereby, as the ear is bent, no wrinkle generates to appear a bad appearance. An elastic cord can be further added to the hair ring or forehead of the mask so as to be more stable and prevent from fall down after being worn. The present invention can be worn for a longer time without feeling of pressure. |

A multi-component costume for at least partially masking a contoured anterior portion of the body includes a first component consisting of a fabric foundation garment for receiving and substantially fully covering the contoured body portion. The second component consists of at least one molded flexible three-dimensional member configured to at least partially receive and cover or mask an anterior surface of the contoured body portion. The second component defines an external, generally convex surface provided with exterior decoration to simulate a desired appearance and an interior generally concave surface forming a three-dimensional cavity having a configuration substantially corresponding to a portion of the contoured body intended or desired to be covered or masked. At least a portion of the fabric foundation garment normally covering the contoured body portion intended or desired to be covered or masked is attached to the interior generally concave surface, such as with adhesive. The molded flexible three-dimensional member closely follows the wearer's contoured body portion to provide the appearance that the exterior decoration corresponds to the exterior surface of the wearer's contoured body portion, while the fabric foundation garment serves to enhance the comfort to the wearer by serving as an intermediate barrier that prevents contact between the skin of the wearer and the molded flexible member. |

A mask body of semi-rigid material having a plurality of holes through the body which permit visibility and breathability. The inner surface of the mask body is of a dark color so as not to impair the vision of the wearer. The outer surface of the mask is preferably painted with a desired image or a solid color. The holes can be made in the body before or after the body forming process. The mask can be covered with different materials for different visual and textural effects. For example, the mask could be partially or fully covered with hair, fur, fabric, appendages, paint or other finishes. The mask could be reversible if desired, and it could have a rotatable mask body on the whole head and the head can be rotatable on the head or have spinning effects on the head or other desired effects. |

The current invention provides a device that produces a three-dimensional object with custom art work from an electronic signal. More particularly, the preferred implementation is a device for making masquerade-type masks, and includes a digital camera that captures a front-on image of an individual's face and converts the captured image to an electronic signal that is downloaded into a personal computer. The computer is utilized to select an image, process that image to remove background, scale the image to correspond to the dimensions and features of a facial die that will be used to mold the mask, and to provide for special effects processing of the selected image. An ink jet plotter is then directed to print the processed image upon thin, flat plastic, which is aligned with the facial features of the die and deformed to skin tight conformance with the die by a vacuum-forming process. The finished mask bears art work, upon its convex exterior, that realistically imitates the face of the individual which served as the model for the mask. |

A method of constructing large human-like costume heads such as caricatures of famous people which includes the steps of sculpting a large block of foam into the rough form of a head to form a sculpted human-like head with a facial portion. The outer portion of the foam block is painted using a desired color scheme. A very thin layer of rubber-like material is applied to the foam block outer surface which seals the foam block but which is sufficiently thin to allow deflection of the foam when squeezed and to provide a texture to the foam that can be felt and which resembles a skin like feeling. |

A universal costume mask armature is disclosed in which a rigid, preferably lattice, infrastructure including skull-shaped cranium and face portion is utilized. The face portion is preferably generally flattened and includes a pair of eye ports. A nose plate between the eye ports forms a continuation of the face and serves to receive and support nose features of a mask mounted on the armature. The face portion also includes a maxilary plate located below the nose plate to receive and support upper lip features of a mask. Use of this armature will enable a very wide range and variety of masks to be interchanged because the construction of the face portion of the armature is designed to support unlimited combinations of nose, eyebrows, beak, etc. without regard to their weight or size. |
