163 Method of manufacturing a hand covering US412824 1995-03-29 US5566405A 1996-10-22 Francis J. Masley
A method for manufacturing an improved hand covering is provided which is defined by mating first and second hand shaped portions seamed one to each other to form a complete hand covering. The hand covering defines at least one finger stall, a thumb stall, a palm portion, a dorsal portion, and at least one finger crotch. At least one vertical fold is permanently defined in the hand covering. The at least one vertical fold is oriented substantially parallel to the at least one finger stall. The at least one vertical fold reduces an original palm circumferential dimension of the hand covering in an amount from about 10% to about 50%.
164 Glove containing an improved finger portion US176076 1993-12-30 US5504942A 1996-04-09 Ichiro Kuwahara
A back finger portion of a glove is provided which is composed of (a) a modified star pattern piece having four radiating projections, the radiating projections forming a first portion of four back finger parts, the star pattern piece having an inner cutout with a junction edge, and (b) four back finger pattern pieces joined to the four radiating projections respectively, the back finger pattern pieces forming a second portion of the four back finger parts respectively. A glove is provided which incorporates the back finger portion and a conventional palm pattern piece, preferably a flat single palm piece. A method of making the back finger portion and the glove are also provided. The back finger portion and glove produced therefrom is advantageous over gloves produced using one or two conventional four-pointed star patterns, in generating less waste material, in having better stretchability, in having an inherent curvature in the fingers corresponding to the natural curvature of the fingers of a hand, and in allowing the finger tips of the glove to be made from a different material.

The glove's covering has an inner surface that is juxtaposed with and contacts the skin of the hand, and to which one or more pressure pads are secured. 167 Sun-shielding ventilated glove US907738 1992-06-29 US5435012A 1995-07-25 Robert A. Lincoln
The invention is a glove-like device which shields the back of the hands from the rays of sunlight. It fits over the back of the hand like a glove, but leaves the palm and sides of the hand and the sides of the fingers and thumb essentially uncovered so heat from the hand can easily escape and the hand can be cooler. Unlike ordinary gloves which would be too uncomfortable to be worn in warm or hot surroundings because they retain the heat coming from the hands, the invention provides ventilation for the hands and allows them to stay cool while the device is being worn in the hot summer sun, or in warm surroundings, such as the inside of an air conditioned automobile, where one would not want to wear ordinary gloves to shield the sunlight off the hands. The sun-shielding device is held on the hand by portions which slip over the ends of the fingers and the thumb, strips of material which go around the fingers and thumb, one or more strips which go across the palm of the hand, and an adjustable band which goes around the wrist. The shield portion over the back of the hand can be made of various materials which block the passage of rays of sunlight. The portion that wraps around the palm side to hold the device on the hand can be made of various materials which will hold the shield portion in place while allowing heat to escape freely from around the palm side of the hand. The device also allows heat to escape from under the shield as the hand is flexed during normal movement or grasping.
168 Guitar glove US62981 1993-05-18 US5390371A 1995-02-21 Richard A. Sigward
A tight fitting guitar glove is presented which has a number of raised cushioning strips on the tips of each of the four fingers of the glove. Several longer raised cushioning strips are also placed on the thumb side of the length of the index finger. These raised strips are used to compress the chord strings on the guitar. The strips are quite narrow, being approximately 1/16" in width and have valleys between the raised strips. The cloth of the glove is extremely tight fitting so that only the raised strips on the tip or side of the fingers will touch the closely adjacent guitar strings. The raised cushioning strips not only provide comfort to the guitar player but are so designed as to allow for the strips to depress closely spaced guitar strings.

In the preferred embodiment the reinforcing means comprise merrow stitching applied to the edge of the finger stall forming portions in the U-shaped form. In another embodiment the reinforcing means comprise a top stitch extending in substantially parallel spaced relation with the edge of the finger stall forming portions. In accordance with another embodiment a binder is secured to the edge portion of the finger stall forming portion prior to the application of the merrow stitiching to the edge portions.
172 Mitten attachment with a thumb portion for a glove with an appendage stowage system US286757 1988-12-19 US4933992A 1990-06-19 Robert A. Kallman
The present invention provides a mitten attachment for use in combination with a glove, which may also be detachably attached, or permanently attached, to the glove, and which includes a stowage system to permit a wearer of the glove to safely and conveniently secure conventional pocket items, such as money or household or car keys. The mitten attachment of the invention is, preferably, secured to the wearer's hand, over a glove already being worn by the wearer, via a series of strap portions which preferably secure the mitten attachment by having one strap portion encircle the wrist area of the user and another strap portion encircling the palm area of the user. The mitten attachment also, preferably, includes a thumb attachment portion for the optional enclosure of the gloved thumb of the user. Each strap portion is preferably integral with the overall construction of the mitten attachment. Additional, or fewer, strap portions may be utilized with the present invention. Alternatively, the article of the present invention may be either permanently secured to the glove of the wearer or fully or partially detachably attached by means, for example, of Velcro. The mitten portion of the mitten attachment article may be utilized to hold conventional pocket items, such as money or keys. Such items may be placed within the mitten portion of the article and the mitten portion may then be folded back underneath the backside portion of the article to securely stow such article. Various other embodiments of the present invention are also disclosed.
