A combination including a package with a top, a bottom, and at least one side wall which define an interior space. The side wall has a tear line extending across the side wall substantially midway between the top and the bottom and parallel to the top and bottom. A plurality of tobacco articles are arranged in the interior of the package so as to extend from the top to the bottom. Each tobacco article has a filter with two ends and a tobacco element extending from each end of the filter. The tobacco elements have equal lengths so that the filter is substantially midway between the top and the bottom of the package. Each filter has a tear line midway along a length of the filter, which tear line corresponds to the tear line in the side wall of the package. The tear lines are provided in the package side wall and the smoking elements so that a separation force applied to the tear line of the package also serves to separate the filters. |

A non-smokable tobacco product comprises a rod-shaped element of cigarette tobacco with a filter element at one end and both enclosed by a tubular wrapper. The product is rendered unsmokable by a perforation extending through the wrapper of the tobacco or the filter element so that when air is drawn through the filter substantially all of the air enters through those perforations, there being insufficient air flow through the tip end to propagate normal cigarette combustion of the tobacco at that location or to permit any appreciable amount of smoke reaching the smoker's mouth. The product is rendered smokable by the user covering the perforated region of the wrapper by means of a strip, a sliding band, or a ring which blocks air flow through the perforations and thus converts the product into a self-made cigarette that can be smoked in the manner of a regular cigarette. |

There is provided an aerosol-generating article (10) comprising an aerosol-generating substrate (12) and a mouthpiece (14) secured to a downstream end of the aerosol-generating substrate (12). The mouth piece (14) comprises at least one segment of porous filter material (20) and a blocking segment (27) that impedes air flow downstream of the at least one segment of porous filter material (20). The blocking segment (27) comprises a segment of support material (22) having an annular shape defining a channel (24) extending through at least part of the segment of support material (22), and at least one freshener delivery element (26) contained within the channel (24). The blocking segment (27) comprising the at least one freshener delivery element (26) is detachable from the at least one segment of porous filter material (20) to decrease the resistance to draw of the aerosol-generating article (10). |

A cigar has a length of at least 8 inches and may be severed in a plane perpendicular to its longitudinal axis without deleteriously affecting its structural integrity or its smokability. The cigar has a non-rotatable collar consisting of a smokable tobacco product which surrounds and grips the cigar at its midpoint. Overlapping portions of the spirally wound wrapper are glued together by a smokable adhesive, from one end of the cigar to the other. |

A series of cigarette-type articles contained in a retail package, each comprising a tobacco-filled cylinder having a filter tip attached to each of its opposite ends, whereby each such article can provide two filter tip cigarettes by the user breaking or severing the tobacco-filled cylinder between the two filter tips. The breakage or severing can occur at variable locations between said filter tips to produce cigarettes of varying length. The tobacco-filled cylinder of each said article has a length of between 2 inches and 3null inches. The invention also includes a process for producing such cigarette-type articles and a procedure for preparing them for smoking. |

The invention relates to a filter cigarette comprising a length of tobacco (3) and two filters (1, 2) attached to said length of tobacco. Said filters (1, 2) are detachable from the length of tobacco and exhibit clearly different filter properties. The invention further relates to a filter coating paper (11), for attaching a filter to a length of tobacco, which comprises a strip of coating paper (9) and an attached strip of cigarette paper (8), whereby the strip of cigarette paper forms the linking section between the length of tobacco and the filter. The invention furthermore relates to the use of the inventive filter cigarette in cooperation with a cigarette box comprising opening flaps (4, 6) on both front faces. A method for factory production of said double filter cigarette is also disclosed. |
