A urinal having a semi-rigid housing is useable by either a male or a female to receive urine discharged by a person whether in a seated or in a supine position. A cappable opening to the collector includes a spout configured to receivingly support a penis when used by a male and the combination of the spout and opening is configured to develop a seal extending from the vaginal opening to a point above the urethra to prevent urine seepage when used by a female. Opposed sides of the collector are concave to mate with the curvature of the user's thighs and help maintain the urinal in place during use. A specially configured handle at the upper rear end of the housing aids in manipulating the urinal into and out of position of use and in minimizing the danger of inadvertent tipping. |

A portable male urinal for use by bed-ridden patients is shown furnished with a drain hose to empty the contents of the urinal by gravity into a lower collection bag or receptacle. The end wall of the urinal has a recessed wall portion that supports a drain spout. A drain hose may be joined to the spout. The end wall has side notches for receiving the drain hose therethrough so the urinal may be supported upright on its end wall during non-use of the urinal. Other advantages are several species of closure means for the drain spout, elongated anchor means along the sides of the urinal for fastening the urinal to the user, and baffle means positioned within the urinal to discourage backflow of the contents. |

The urinal has an inlet tube which, when properly assembled on its container, will not discharge the contents of the container. The inlet tube is removable for emptying and washing the container and a special form of connection is provided to insure that the tube is always replaced in the container in the proper manner to prevent spillage. |

A urinal is provided which includes an elongated container having concave sides that conform to the general shape of the user's thighs. The container includes a frontal orifice for receiving the male organ of the user and an internal tube, which slants downward from the frontal orifice, which serves to prevent spillage. The container also includes an outflow pipe and an associated valve used to empty the container. An undersheet is detachably secured to the bottom of the container and extends rearward of the container and outboard of the sides thereof, under the legs of the user, so as to secure the container in place while in use. |

A urinal made by blow molding process includes a body and a neck which is both tapered and is angularly related to the body of the urinal. In order that the urinal is adapted for both male and female usage, the open end of the neck receives a press fitted adapter therein which is of one configuration for male usage and is anatomically configured for female usage in another form of the adapter. Both adapters include a closure or odor shield with a hinge portion which fits over the open end of the adapter to seal the interior of the container and the closure is connected through a flexible section to either the container or the adapter to be a permanent part thereof whether the closure is in open or sealed positions. The base of the container is enlarged with both flared and radiused sides so that the container is more stable in an upright position and the handle is a completely closed handle, which although hollow, is sealed from the body.
