PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection overcoat for a toner image having a reduced sensitivity with respect to mechanical interaction and a smooth surface with an even gloss, independent of the amount of superimposed toner layers. SOLUTION: A coating unit can be employed in off-line or in-line with a digital printing system. The coating is applied on already fused toner images and is subsequently cured by means of UV radiation. The resulting coated fused toner images have a reduced sensitivity with respect to mechanical interaction (e.g., rubbing), and to water, solvents, and sunlight. In addition, they yield a smooth surface with an even tunable gloss, independent of the amount of the superimposed toner layers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

197 Image forming method JP1949093 1993-01-13 JPH06214432A 1994-08-05 MATSUOKA HIROTAKA; KOBAYASHI TAKAKO; HASHIMOTO TAKESHI
PURPOSE:To provide an image forming method for reducing the quantity of carrier liquid discharged from a copying machine, or a printer, for reducing the danger of fire and also for preventing the occurrence of such a phenomenon that non-image area on a sheet becomes transparent and the occurrence of spotted noise in the case of using low vapor pressure carrier liquid. CONSTITUTION:After developing an electrostatic latent image formed on a latent image holding body by liquid developer using the carrier liquid, the formed toner image 202 is brought into contact with oil absorbent such as oil absorbent polymer particles 204, etc., so as to remove the carrier liquid 206 (1), or the formed toner image is transferred to a transfer material and the transferred toner image is brought into contact with the oil absorbent so as to remove the carrier liquid (2), or the formed toner image is transferred to a substrate containing the oil absorbent. Oil absorbing polymer, especially, crosslinking acryllc resin, or crosslinking norbornene resin is preferable as the oil absorbent.

199 Method for forming protective film for surface of photosensitive recording medium JP15266688 1988-06-21 JPH01319756A 1989-12-26 SANKOCHI TOSHIO; SAKAI ATSUSHI
PURPOSE:To make a thickness of a film-shaped protective film uniform by sticking powder of a thermoplastic resin to a surface of a medium having a picture image recorded thereon and melting the powder by heating. CONSTITUTION:After recording a picture image on a photosensitive recording medium 1 having a photosensitive electroconductive layer 4 on a substrate 1 interposing an electroconductive layer 3, powder of a thermoplastic resin 11b is applied uniformly to the layer 4, which is melted by heating with a hot roll, etc., to form thus a transparent protective film 13. In this case, it is preferred that the powder 11b is applied electrostatically to the surface of the layer 4 after electrifying the whole surface of the layer recorded with a picture image. By this method, the thickness of the film 13 is made uniform, and the handling or management of the material for forming film is facilitated since the powder 11b is used.
200 Method for giving plasticizer resistance to electrophotographic copied material JP14776588 1988-06-15 JPH01314254A 1989-12-19 KAWAMURA EIICHI
PURPOSE:To prevent staining of a toner image and a polyvinyl chloride film when they come into contact with each other by processing the toner image with a polymer solution to give the plasticizer resistance. CONSTITUTION:The toner image is coated with the polymer coat layer as the plasticizer resistance giving treatment to prevent direct contact between the toner image and the polyvinyl chloride film. The toner image part of a copying material is coated with the solution of the polymer, preferably, a water-soluble polymer, obtained by dissolving it in a solvent, thus permitting the polymer coat to sufficiently prevent emigration of the plasticizer, and consequently, staining of the copy and the polyvinyl chloride film due to the contact of both, the defect of the conventional toners to be eliminated.
