In case that it is judged the jam is removed(S6), the CPU checks whether a cleaning mode is set by the user(S7). In case that it is judged the cleaning mode is set, new paper is forcibly transferred and discharged(S8). After that, a relevant document is reprinted(S9).

When a current which flows through the printing papers is measured, a switching unit(150) opens the first to the fourth organic photo conductive units(112,114,116,118) from ground. The printing papers are put into a paper resistance measuring roller(110). A paper sensing unit senses whether the printing papers are put into. If it is sensed that the printing papers are put into through the paper sensing unit, a control unit controls the switching unit(150) to turn off the switching unit(150). When the current measurement is ended, the control unit controls the switching unit(150) to turn on the switching unit(150).

In the tension roller 5, both ends are rotatably journaled by a roller position attitude control mechanism 3 including an arm 6, a spring 7 and a rotary shaft 8. The arm 6 is provided with a belt abutting part adjacent to a roller part of the tension roller 5, whereby when the transfer transport belt 2 abuts on the belt abutting part, the arm 6 is rotated in the direction of increasing and decreasing the tension of a belt according to increase or decrease in width.
