90 | METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR VIEWING A GOLF PUTTING GREEN | PCT/US2004038949 | 2004-11-19 | WO2005051493A2 | 2005-06-09
This invention provides binocular eyeglasses that have linear polarizing lenses to be employed by a golfer to examine the surface of a putting green as an aid in deciding the speed and direction for a putting stroke. The planes of maximum transmission for the lenses are preferably complementary each lens 45° to horizontal. The polarizing lenses are supported to permit the golfer to rotate the lenses to a "tip-up" position out of the line of sight, which enables the golfer to alternatively see a direct view and a polarizer altered view of the putting surface without significant delay of play.

The biconvex plus lens (1) and the biconcave minus lens (2) are arranged in parallel in the casing and the biconcave minus lens (2) is closer to an object space. The biconvex plus lens (1) comprises a first surface (3) that is convex toward the object space, and a second surface (4) that has a flat edge and a center position that is convex toward an image space. The biconcave minus lens (2) comprises a third surface (5) that is concave toward the object space, and a fourth surface (6) that has a flat edge and a center position that is concave toward the image space. The biconcave minus lens (2) can move along an axis of the casing to adjust a distance to the biconvex plus lens (1), and compensate for a defocus in a zooming manner. The head-mounted device is suitable for being used with naked eyes by persons having -500 degree nearsightedness to 500 degree farsightedness. In use, a user can adjust the focal length according to his degree of nearsightedness or farsightedness to achieve a clear imaging without changing the conjugated distance between the human eyes and the screen. |

The invention relates to protective glasses (20) and a protective helmet provided therewith. The protective glasses (20) comprise a curved lens panel (22) for protecting the eyes. Two side pieces (24, 26) have an inner end articulated in each case on the helmet and an outer end articulated in each case on the lens panel (22). The protective glasses (20) can be pivoted upwards from a protective position in front of the eyes into a stowed position. Each side piece (24, 26) comprises a glasses arm (28) and a glasses-carrying arm (30), which can be displaced telescopically one inside the other. The glasses arms (28) are curved, at the outer ends of the side pieces (24, 26), in the direction of the lens panel (22), and they therefore adjoin the lens panel tangentially. The glasses arms (28) have axes of articulation on the lens panel (22) which are not aligned with one another. The side pieces (24, 26) can be latched firmly in a form-fitting manner to the lens panel (22) in a number of selectable positions. In the stowed position, the protective glasses (20) are accommodated substantially entirely in the protective helmet. Moreover, the protective glasses (20) can be moved into, and out of, the stowed position using one hand, without the length of the side pieces (24, 26) or the tilt of the lens panel (22) in relation to the side pieces being changed. One-handed actuation of the protective glasses (20) is very advantageous for use of these glasses on a helmet in forestry work, in the industrial sector or for climbing purposes.

Disclosed is a buckle device that releasably locks an elastic band including a plurality of engaging portions in a lengthwise direction. The buckle device includes a buckle holder and a pair of slide buckles slidably fitted to the buckle holder. The buckle holder includes a pair of locking pins apart from each other and a pair of guide surfaces. A pair of elastic bands are hung on the locking pins respectively. The guide surfaces are inclined in opposite directions with respect to a plane passing through the pair of the locking pins. The slide buckle has a ratchet protrusion configured to engage the engaging portion of the elastic band and a slide surface configured to come into surface contact with the guide surface of the buckle holder. The slide buckle is movable between an unlocked position where the engaging portion pushes the ratchet protrusion in a first direction to allow a movement of the elastic band between the ratchet protrusion and the locking pin, and a locked position where the engaging portion pushes the ratchet protrusion in a second direction opposite to the first direction so that the ratchet protrusion presses the elastic band against the locking pin. |
