101 | Eyeglass frames with reinforcing tubes | US590039 | 1990-09-28 | US5033837A | 1991-07-23 | Peter Leonardi |
A reinforced eyeglass frame assembly having a frame front and temple members, a pair of hinge members pivotally coupling the temple members to the frame front between open and closed positions, and a pair of reinforcing tubes slidably coupled to the temple members. When the temple members are in their closed positions, the reinforcing tubes are located in their first positions spaced from the hinge members allowing for free pivotal movement of the temple members. When the temple members are pivoted to their open positions, the reinforcing tubes are moved to their second positions surrounding the hinge members and locking them against pivotal movement. The tubes and hinge members are sized so that the tubes frictionally engage a part of the frame front and the hinge members, when in their second positions, to retain the tubes over the hinge members. The reinforcing tubes are preferably formed of a polymeric material, such as polycarbonate, that is stronger and stiffer than the polymeric material forming the frame front and temple members, such as cellulose acetate.
102 | Stem device for eyeglasses frames and the like | US781824 | 1985-09-30 | US4750828A | 1988-06-14 | Rino Sartor |
The stem device comprises a hollow body having an end and which can be removably associated with a tubular element. Between the body and element, members are provided to afford axial rotation with an elastic return bias acting therebetween. The stem device includes a peg located in an oblique slot for restricting the translatory and rotary movements of the end with respect to the element. The stem device is also effective to be snap-closed and elastically opened to an extra-open angle with respect to the front of a pair of eyeglasses.
103 | Eyeglasses | US879459 | 1978-02-21 | US4202609A | 1980-05-13 | Donald M. Reese |
Suspension Eyewear consists of a pair of ophthalmic lenses attached to a metal centerpiece in the manner of conventional rimless eyeglasses. Instead of hinges and temples there are two suspension lines attached to each lens near the outer edges, and at points sufficiently separated to provide stability. The plane of the front assembly to the face is controlled by adjusting the length of these lines in a device positioned just in front of and about midway the ear. A wirebound springwire attached to the adjusting device extends over and behind each ear to below the mastoid. These spring earwires will return the front assembly to proper alignment when it is lightly pushed or pulled, in any direction, and released.

The present invention relates to a coupling structure of glasses frames and glasses legs, and more particularly, to a coupling structure of glasses frames and glasses legs, in which the frames and the legs can be easily coupled or uncoupled to/from each other, which enables lenses to be easily coupled to the frames, and which provides elasticity when the legs are folded or unfolded. The coupling structure of the present invention includes: a hinge piece (2) tightly inserted between end pieces (E) split at a distal end of the frames such that the hinge piece (2) protrudes, wherein the hinge piece (2) has a stopper groove (1) ; an elastic member (4) having a slot (3) for the insertion of the hinge piece (2) ; and legs (T) having a rotation pin (8) and an operating slot (5) such that a front end of the legs (T) can be fitted into the stopper groove (1) while elastically pressing the elastic member (4) . Also, the coupling structure of the present invention comprises: a hinge piece (2) protruding from the inside of an end piece (E) integrally formed with an end of the frames by synthetic-resin injection-molding, wherein the hinge piece (2) has a stopper groove (1) ; an elastic member (4) having an upper plate and a lower plate, wherein an intermediate portion of the upper plate is elastically bent, the upper plate and the lower plate have respective slots (3) to be doubly fitted onto the hinge piece (2), and the intermediate portion of the upper plate is bent at a predetermined angle to form a protrusion (6) in the horizontal direction; and legs (T), the front end of which has a rotation pin (8) such that the front end of the legs (T) can be fitted into the stopper groove (1) of the hinge piece (2) while elastically pressing the upper plate of the elastic member (4), wherein the leg (T) has a relatively vertically elongate operating slot (5) at the front end thereof such that the legs (T) is rotatable about the rotation pin (8).

The utility model discloses an elastic hinge for spectacles, including a first hinge component which includes two chip elements and the two chip elements are connected together by means of being partially overlapped; a second hinge component which includes two chip elements and the two chip elements are superimposed together, wherein one chip element in the first hinge component is connected with the chip element of the second hinge component; and a gap disposed at the joint of one chip element of the first hinge component and one chip element of the second hinge component, and movable space is formed between the first hinge component and the second hinge component, so that the elastic hinge for spectacles elastically moves inwards or outwards. The elastic hinge of the utility model is installed after the trim and the arm of the spectacles. Relying on the mutually smart cooperation of the components of the elastic hinge, the arm of the spectacles can have functions of bounding inwards and outwards without the help of any slingshot element, and has good durability. |

Disclosed is a frame for glasses with a front-piece, two temples connected each to the front-piece by a hinge which allows the rotation of the temples from a working position which is substantially perpendicular to the front-piece, when wearing the glasses, up to a rest position which is substantially parallel to the front-piece, when putting the glasses away. The front-piece includes two rims for supporting the lenses, and possibly a bridge connecting the rims. A pivot allows one of the temples or overturning temple and the relative hinge to rotate about an overturning axis substantially parallel to the front-piece. The overturning axis has a set inclination with respect to a straight line passing through the two centers of the rims, the inclination having a value that ranges from 2.5° to 25° and preferably from 5° to 25°.
